“وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ” 

“wa lahum ‘athabun aleem” 

“And for them is a painful punishment.” (Al-Baqarah: 10).

The prolonged ghunnah on the ‘نَّ’ in “لَيُنبَذَنَّ” (layumbadhanna) adds a powerful emphasis and a distinct rhythmic beat to the verse.

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, ‘Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.'” (Al-Baqarah: 30). 

The long, four-to-five count stretch on the word “لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ” (lil-malā’ikati) is a mandatory elongation that forces the reciter to pause and beautify the sound, creating a moment of melodic emphasis.

“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” (Ar-Ra’d: 28).

“And the shade of Paradise will cover them, and its fruit will hang low in humility.” (Al-Insan: 14).
