Kids learn why pronouncing things correctly is so important in keeping the Quran’s true meaning, and they get gentle corrections and lots of encouragement along the way.

About The Tajweed Course for Kids

This four-level Tajweed program offers a structured and engaging learning experience for children aged 4 and above. Level 1 focuses on building a strong foundation in Arabic pronunciation, introducing the concept of Tajweed and teaching the correct articulation points of letters. Level 2 builds upon this foundation by introducing basic Tajweed rules and the characteristics of letters.

Level 3 delves deeper into advanced Tajweed rules, such as Madd and Idgham, and focuses on practical application within Quranic verses. Finally, Level 4 is designed for advanced learners who are passionate about perfecting their recitation, focusing on analyzing verses, reciting longer Surahs, and preparing for Quran recitation competitions.

Each level uses age-appropriate methods, including fun activities, clear examples, and gentle correction, to ensure an enjoyable and effective learning experience.

Level 1 - Tajweed Exploration for Kids (Ages 4+)

This level focuses on building a strong foundation in Arabic pronunciation for kids.

Introducing Tajweed for Kids

We introduce the concept of Tajweed in a simple and engaging way for kids, explaining why it’s important to recite the Quran correctly. We use examples that children can relate to. We explain that Tajweed helps us pronounce the words of Allah just like the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did.

Articulation Points for Children

We use fun activities to help children learn the correct articulation points of each Arabic letter. We make sure the kid can differentiate between similar-sounding letters like “ت” (ta), as in “تَمْر” (tamr – dates), and “ط” (ṭa), as in “طَيْر” (ṭayr – bird), using clear examples and playful exercises.

Combining Listening and Pronunciation with Tajweed Lessons for Kids

We use audio examples and interactive exercises to help children develop their listening and pronunciation skills. We focus on clear pronunciation and provide gentle correction.

p20

Level 2 - Helping Kids Get Better at Tajweed (Ages 6+)

This level builds upon the foundation established in Level 1 and introduces basic Tajweed rules.

Introduction to the Quranic Script for Kids

We introduce children to the style of writing used in the Quran (especially in Uthmani script). We show them how some letters look different at the beginning, middle, and end of words and how the letters connect.

p17

Characteristics of Arabic Letters for Kids

We explain the characteristics of letters, such as whispering (Hams) and strength (Jahr), using simple analogies and examples. For instance, we might compare the soft, airy sound of “هـ” (ha), as in “هُدًى” (hudan – guidance), to a gentle breeze and the stronger sound of “ح” (ḥa), as in “حَمْد” (hamd – praise), to a stronger gust of wind.

Basic Tajweed Rules for Kids

We introduce basic Tajweed rules, such as the rules of Noon Saakin (نْ) and Tanween (ً ٍ ٌ), using simple explanations and examples. For example, we might use a story to explain how the Noon sound changes when it comes before different letters.

p14

Level 3 - Mastering Tajweed for Kids (Ages 8+)

This level delves deeper into Tajweed rules and focuses on practical application.

Advanced Tajweed Rules for Kids

We introduce more complex Tajweed rules, such as Madd (elongation) and Idgham (merging), using clear explanations and practical examples. We’ll explain the different types of Madd, like Madd Tabee’ee (Natural Madd), which is a two-count elongation, as in “قَالُوا” (Qalu – They said), and Madd Muttasil (Connected Madd), where the Madd letter is followed by a Hamza in the same word, as in “جَاءَ” (Jaa’a – He came), requiring a longer elongation.

p11

Application of Tajweed Rules in Quranic Verses for Kids

Children will learn to identify and apply various Tajweed rules within Quranic verses. We’ll use examples from different Surahs to illustrate how these rules work in context. For example, we might analyze verses from Surah Al-Mulk to identify instances of Ikhfa’, Idgham, and Madd.

Avoiding Common Tajweed Mistakes for Kids

We address common Tajweed mistakes that children make and provide clear explanations and corrections. We use examples and practice exercises to help children avoid these mistakes. For example, we can practice differentiating between the sounds of “ض” (ḍād) and “ظ” (ẓā), which are often confused for kids.

p10

Level 4 - Advanced Tajweed for Young Reciters (Ages 10+)

This level is for children who are passionate about perfecting their Quran recitation.

Quranic Verse Analysis for Children

We guide children to analyze Quranic verses and identify the Tajweed rules within them. We can start with short Surahs like Surah Al-Zalzalah and gradually move to longer ones.

p8
p6

Reciting Longer Surahs for Kids

We encourage children to practice reciting longer Surahs, applying all the Tajweed rules they have learned.

Preparing for Competitions and Public Recitation for Kids

For students interested in showcasing their skills, we offer training and preparation for Quran recitation competitions.
