This series is presented by Sohaib Saeed as a means to make the Qur’an more accessible in the current day, using the popular short-video format to present a simplified explanation of a few verses at a time.

Arriving now is the “Ten-Minute Tarawih” series launched in Ramadan 1432/2011, with each video providing an overview of one of the thirty portions (juz’) of the Qur’an. This may be considered more of an introduction than a commentary, and it is based loosely on A Thematic Commentary on the Qur’an by the late Shaykh Muhammad al-Ghazali, a great Azhari scholar.

If “Ten-Minute Tarawih” is considered a Level 0 tafsir, the next stage of the project is to present a Level 1 commentary with each video explaining approximately a page of the Madinah edition. In this way, the hope is to complete the presentation within two years – in sha’ Allah.

Obviously, the great task of clarifying the Qur’an and its guidance cannot be fulfilled in such a concise format, but the intention is simply to provide an entry point for people who otherwise struggle to make time, and to complement some of the more detailed presentations now becoming available by the grace of Allah. If some potential misunderstandings can be cleared up, and if people can be encouraged to delve deeper into the ocean of the Qur’an, this is enough of a motivation.
