The Glorious Recital

This page is a description and archive of an ongoing project to promote the beauty and message of the Qur’an through the medium of recitation, along with real-time translation and elucidating explanations.

Since its inception in 2005, Quranica has held events at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Islam Festival Edinburgh, IslamExpo (Alexandra Palace and Olympia, London), the National Museum of Wales (in cooperation with the Festival of Muslim Cultures) and in various other cities and campuses around the UK. We also organised a 2006 speaker tour for Dr. Kristina Nelson, author of The Art of Reciting the Qur’an, encompassing Cambridge, SOAS and Edinburgh. Among the prominent and masterful reciters who have worked with Quranica are Mohammed Jebril, Hajjaj Ramadan al-Hindawi, Riza Gunay, Mohamed Nabil Abdel-Hady, Syed Hasan Bokhari, Ahmed Sa’ad and Yahya Hawwa. Events are presented by Sohaib Saeed, who strives to provide a window onto the meanings of the Qur’an as well as an appreciation of its eternal beauty.
